Private Dance Lesson Questions

Do I need a Partner to take dancing lessons at Dance District?

- No, you most certainly do not need a partner to take dancing lessons at Dance District, as you can dance with the instructor. Please feel free to specify a gender preference when you book your first dance lesson with Dance District.

Is the price for dance lessons per person or per couple?

- For ALL private dance lessons, the price is the same per person or couple as the same amount of floor space is required.

- For ALL group classes, including workshops, the price is per person, as you are each taking one spot in the class.

What dances do you teach at Dance District?

We teach all Latin, American, and Standard Ballroom dances, as well as Nightclub dances of all types. To find out about all dances visit the Dance Description page.

How far in advance do we have to book private dance lessons?

For popular times, like Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings you should book 1 week in advance. For other times 2-3 days is typically enough to get a time at or near to what you want.

Am I the only person on the dance floor during a private dancing lesson?

Not necessarily, but we try to make it so. While we try to allow a maximum two private dance lessons on the floor at one time, there can be as many as 4 private lessons on the dance floor at peak hours, unless you buy a Premium Dance Lesson Package which guarantees you the floor all to yourselves.

What style of Dancing do you teach at Dance District Social Dance Studio?

As we are a Social Dance Studio, we teach a social dance version of the Latin American Dance Sylabus, similar to that of the DIVIDA dance syllabus

Can I bring my own music to dance to during my private dance lesson?

We have a collection of over 9000 songs for you to dance to; however, if you would like to bring your own music you can bring it in any format, from iPod to CD to DVD and everything in between, except for tape or eight track.

Can I take my practice dance session whenever I want?

No, practice dance sessions must be taken within two weeks of your final dance lesson, as they will not serve you after that time anyway.

What should I wear to my dance lesson?

Wear something comfortable but stylish. While this is not an exercise class, you will be dancing for an hour.

What shoes are best for dance lessons?

While leather soled dance shoes are best, a comfortable dress shoe for him and a low heel for her are also a comfortable choice for a dance lesson.

Group Dance Lesson Questions

Do I need a partner for Group Dance Lessons at Dance District Social Dance Studio?

No, you most certainly do not need a partner, as we work very diligently to ensure a balance in classes and often get our teacher training candidates to balance classes that we cannot balance with new students.

What is a "progressive" group dance class?

A progressive dance class teaches you new dance steps each week based on what you learned the previous week, which is why it is so important to not miss any classes, or make them up with private dance lessons.

What happens if I miss a group dance class?

If you miss a group dance class you can either get in touch with one of the other students in the class and catch up during a practice dance session, or book a private dance lesson to get some one on one dance instruction.

What Style of Salsa Dancing do you teach at Dance District Social Dance Studio?

We teach a New York based Salsa On-1. This is a linear Salsa with many great steps that easily build onto the basics.

What Style of Tango Dancing do you teach at Dance District Social Dance Studio?

We teach a Latin American Style Tango, which has a little more structure then your typical Argentine Tango.

What Style of Swing Dancing do you teach at Dance District Social Dance Studio?

We teach a Latin American East Coast Swing, which lets you have a lot of fun on the dance floor.

Is the price for Wedding Dance Lessons per couple?

Yes, All Wedding Dance Lesson pricing is per couple.

Is choreography included in Wedding Dance Lessons at Dance District Social Dance Studio?

Yes, Choreography is included in all Wedding Dance Lesson packages.

Can I take my practice dance session whenever I want?

No, practice sessions must be taken within two weeks of your final dance lesson, as they will not serve you after that time anyway.

Do we get the dance floor all to ourselves for a wedding dance lesson?

No, there may be other couples on the dance floor during peak hours, but you can book a premium wedding dance lesson package to make sure you are the only ones on the dance floor, with nothing but your music playing.

Do Dance District Dance Studio Memberships include all group lessons, practices and weekend workshops?

Yes, all group activites and group dance classes are included in Dance Studio Memberships.

Is there a special rate for private dance classes for Dance District Members?

Yes, all Private Dance Lessons cost only $85 for Dance District Social Dance Studio Members.

Can I buy a Dance Studio Membership for just one month?

No, you must buy all memberships for an initial 3 month block, after which you can switch to monthly payments.

Is a Dance District Dance Studio Membership sold per person or couple?

Dance Studio Memberships are per person. If you buy a Premium Dance Studio Membership you only need a basic membership to add a partner.

Are there any discounts available on Dance Studio Memberships?

Yes, the longer a period you buy a dance studio membership for, the more you get to save.

Do I need to be a Dance District Social Dance Studio Student to attend a Dance Studio Party?

No, you do not need to have been a student to come out and dance. Guests are always welcome, and the more the merrier!

Do I need to have had dance lessons to enjoy a Dance District Party?

Not at all, as all of our parties start with a beginner level dance lesson so that everyone can enjoy themselves.

Do I need a dance partner to come to a Dance Studio Dance Party?

Nope! There are always single people at our parties who are willing to dance with you, as well as our dance instructors and dance teachers in training who will be more than happy to help you have a great time!
